140 children injured as a resylt of military actions in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have been sent over to Russia to receive treatment, the republic’s children’s ombudsperson Yana Chepikova told the Donetsk News Agency on Friday. “As of today, 314 children have been injured during the military actions time [from April, 2014],” she said. “40% of them are in Russia improving their health — those are children with most serious injuries.” She said the republic and Russia will continue cooperation in physical and psychological rehabilitation of children and thanked Russian medical staff for “unprecedented assistance.” Over the time of the armed conflict in Donbass, in the DPR territory 78 children were killed in shelling and other actions by the Ukrainian military. Besides, the office of human rights ombudsman reports victims of the Ukraine’s aggression in DPR are 3,948 civilians, including 580 women and 3,368 men. Ukrainian troops have been engaged in fighting with local militias during Kiev’s punitive operation, underway since mid-April 2014, against the breakaway territories — the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics constituting parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. Massive shelling of residential neighborhoods, including with the use of aviation, has killed thousands and led to a humanitarian disaster in the area. Kiev has regularly violated the ceasefire regime imposed as part of the Package of Measures on implementation of the September 2014 Minsk Agreements.
