LPR Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped 0.1 percent in the first 9 months of 2016, while Ukraine’s consumer-price advanced 9.4 percent, LPR State Statistics Committee reported.
The Republic CPI in October was 99.9 percent compared to December, 2015.
Ukraine CPI was 109.4 percent in the same period.
Higher costs for electricity, water, gas and shelter had the largest upward impact on the index – 39.8 percent. Gas index rose 42 percent; electricity posted a 60 percent increase, hot water and heating – 54.3 percent, water supply – 37.1 percent, drainage – 25.2 percent.
CPI includes utility services rates which are much lower in LPR than in Ukraine: gas costs are 5 times cheaper in LPR.
The Republic also announced it is not going to rise electricity and heating rates.
A consumer price index (CPI) measures changes in the price level of a market basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households. The CPI is a statistical estimate constructed using the prices of a sample of representative items whose prices are collected periodically.
