LPR teachers and scientists have become full-fledged members of the World Federation of Teachers Unions (known by its French initials FISE) and are set to establish contacts with colleagues from other countries, a union official told a news briefing at Lugansk Media Centre on Tuesday.
“On 2 December we became full-fledged FISE members with all rights and obligations pertaining thereto,” chairman of the LPR Teachers Union Republican Committee Oleg Koval said.
“We wish to develop horizontal relations with our colleagues from all countries. With Action Plan in place, we start correspondence at the first stage and then hold Skype conferences to be followed by delegations exchanges and search for solutions,” he added.
“African countries, such as Niger were the first to respond; we plan to sign cooperation agreements with them and hold video conferences via Skype. Italian teachers amply represented by the national union are very interested too,” the LPR union leader said.
LPR Federation of Trade Unions was established at the founding conference in Lugansk on 27 June 2014. A year later, it joined the World Federation of Trade Unions.
At the 17th WFTU Congress in South Africa on 17 October 2016, LPR Trade Unions Federation had its WFTU membership extended for another year.
