Responding to Bakir Izetbegovic, the Bosniak member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said he had no intention of giving up on a January 9 visit to Banjaluka for the Republika Srpska Day celebrations.
“Of course I will go there so that we can mark and celebrate that. Serbia and Srpska have special ties. And I do not accept such blackmailing,” Nikolic told Kurir.
Izetbegovic on Wednesday urged Nikolic to reconsider the visit to Banjaluka.
The BiH Constitutional Court has abolished January 9 as a holiday, he said.
“It was established it is a discriminatory holiday. No one has anything against Republika Srpska or it celebrating the day of its establishment, but it should not be a day that offends other people in that entity,” Izetbegovic said.
