LPR bread prices are 60 percent cheaper than in Kiev-controlled part of the Lugansk region, and sunflower oil and butter are cheaper as well, the Republic’s Industry and Trade Ministry said citing November-December 2016 food price monitoring report.
“Staple foodstuffs, like bread and flour, were much cheaper in LPR in November-December 2016. Mixed bread sold at 16.35 rubles versus 26.94 rubles (up 1.6 times) elsewhere in the region,” the report said.
White bread cost 17.27 rubles compared with 27.22 rubles in Kiev-controlled part of Lugansk region and premium wheat flour cost 13.74 rubles per kilo compared with 19.2 rubles in Ukraine Junta -controlled area.
LPR sunflower oil and butter prices were six rubles lower, on the average, than elsewhere in the region.
LPR consumer price index increased 0.2 percent in the first 11 months of 2016, while in Ukraine it jumped 11.4 percent. Food prices in Kiev-controlled part of the Lugansk region are growing several times faster than in the Republic.
