Sixteen people have been detained and one injured as a result of Belgium’s largest national antiterrorism operation, a spokesman for Belgian federal prosecutors said at a news conference.
“Belgian police conducted 19 coordinated raids in seven municipalities, 16 people have been arrested, one injured,” the spokesman said. “The key suspect in the Paris terrorist attacks — Salah Abdeslam — was not detained during the antiterrorism operation in Belgium.”
Hundreds of police agents supported by the military, armored vehicles and helicopters took part in the operations.
