Impunity for crimes in Ukraine hinders national reconciliation in the country — diplomat

Kiev must honor the Minsk agreements, without this it will be difficult to talk about national reconciliation in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov said on Tuesday.

“Ukraine is the only country in Europe where there are political prisoners,” the diplomat said. “Sometimes relatives know nothing about their fate. The ‘witch hunt’ continues.”

According to Dolgov, the “case of snipers” on the Maidan is not being investigated, as well as the tragedy in Odessa. “Impunity continues to thrive, some of the criminals are now members of the Verkhovna Rada,” he said.

“The impunity is a powerful brake on the way to the national reconciliation,” the Russian Foreign Ministry’s envoy said. “Until the truth is established, criminals are punished and the Minsk agreements are implemented, it will be difficult to talk about reconciliation.”.
