Europe has offered a status of colony to Ukraine, Speaker of the Russian State Duma lower house of parliament Sergey Naryshkin said in an interview with the Izvestiya daily on Thursday.
Naryshkin is sure that certain countries’ aspirations to pursue an imperial and colonial policy still remain as “long-standing impunity both for crimes against peace and humanity and for connivance with neo-Nazi and other ideologies stinking of racism” has been a key factor behind this policy.
“A good deal of armed conflicts started with silent appeasement with ideas of ethnic superiority of one nation over other nations,” he said underscoring that in this context the contemporary ideologies of superiority “are extremely dangerous.”
“Look how the sovereignty of both NATO and EU member countries is limited,” Naryshkin said. “What else but a status of colony was offered to Ukraine by the so-called united Europe — have the duties but don’t enjoy the rights?”
Meanwhile, the speaker went on to say that in Ukraine and Baltic states numerous restrictions related to ethnic identity and native language have been recorded.
“Leading European countries prefer not to notice it, like they try not to pay attention to a rise of neo-Nazi sentiments and glorification of Hitler’s accomplices,” the Duma speaker said.
