“The provisions of (Ukraine’s) new military doctrine confirm the degree of inadequacy and hypocrisy of the Ukrainian leadership,” Mikhail Popov, the Russian Security Council deputy secretary, told journalists.
Commenting on the recently approved new edition of Ukraine’s military doctrine, Popov said that for the first time in the country’s history, the document has clearly defined the enemy and the aggressor. “In truth, it was the anti-constitutional coup in Ukraine that led to Kiev’s armed conflict with its own people,” Popov stressed.
“The official Kiev has firmly decided for itself that Russia is to blame for all Ukraine’s troubles for the moment. At first, this fairy tale became part of public statements and media reports. Later, they started believing in it to such a degree that this storytelling turned into strategic planning documents. They are engaged in wishful thinking,” the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council said.
At the same time, Popov said, Ukraine continues buying oil, gas, electric energy and diesel fuel from Russia. The two countries cooperate in railway transport and nuclear energy.
“Russia, in turn, does not regard Ukraine as its enemy. The Ukrainian people is the closest to us by spirit and blood. We have lived as one family for thousands of years. However, today the Ukrainian government is trying to break the family bonds,” Popov said.
