China supports Russia’s actions in Syria, which are an important integral part of international anti-terror efforts, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a press briefing on Monday.
“Russia’s large-scale activities are an important integral part of the international counter-terror actions. China supports Russia’s efforts to combat terrorism,” Hong Lei said.
He noted it was necessary to coordinate international anti-terrorist actions under the auspices of the United Nations and in conformity with the decisions of the UN Security Council to prevent cross-border activities of terrorist groups and their financing.
Hong Lei also pointed to the need for a political settlement of the Syrian problem.
