The Contact Group for the settlement in the Donbass region (Eastern Ukraine) have agreed to open a new crossing checkpoint at the disengagement line in Ukraine’s Lugansk region by mid-February, Darya Olifer, the press secretary of Leonid Kuchma, Ukraine’s representative in the Contact Group, wrote in Facebook on Wednesday. “An automobile border crossing point will open in the Lugansk region by mid-February (Lisichansk-Gorskoye-Zolotoye-Pervomaisk-Stakhanov),” Olifer said. Ukraine’s political stance remains unchanged, Olifer wrote in Facebook. “Elections in Donbass areas, which are not under Ukraine’s control, should be held according to Ukrainian laws with the presence of Ukrainian parties, Ukrainian journalists and international monitors,” Olifer said.
