Ukrainian military once again shelled Gorlovka. A woman – local resident – died, and three more were wounded. In spite of the fact that the fire was carried out from Kiev-controlled territories, Ukraine keeps on blaming Russia.
Nevertheless, the truth will out, especially due to those, who come to Donbass in order to save civilians . from shelling, reconstruct houses and tell the entire world about what is really happening in the South-East of Ukraine. Correspondent of Russian “5th TV channel” Semyen Yeremin met one of such people, on whose head Ukrainian authorities had put a bounty:
The convoy has to reach the town of Khartsyzsk in the rear before dark: less inquiries at the block-posts, less of a chance to stumble across Ukrainian sabotage-and-reconnaissance group. It’s evacuation.
Half an hour earlier 11 persons – women and children– had hastily mounted a van. Their homes had been devastated by the latest artillery strike.
He’s got no time to explain, why a man, who does not speak Russian, is helping to load the luggage and where he is from, if he answers to a name of Zak, and why he is making footage of everything.
Zak Novak: “This is too sad: these families with kids, they want to survive, they want peace. They leave the settlement, which is being bombarded by the troopers of Poroshenko’s regime. I’ve got to show the world what is going on here”.
This is the way a man born in the USA, Zak Novak, reflects on things – not typical for an American. He is a volunteer engaged in humanitarian activity. He watches and listens… Then shares his impressions in the internet. He undertook this trip to the front-line locality of Telmanovo together with Slovakian comrades, also volunteers.
Marian, volunteer from Slovakia: “The problems of the population of Donbass and Novorossiya are echoing in our hearts. We have established our Slovakian representative office in Novorossiya in October, and are bringing in aid through it”.
There’s an emblem featuring Serbian tricolor on Zak’s sleeve. His parents emigrated from Yugoslavia, once a big and prosperous country. There’s St- George’s ribbon on his chest. And words of regret in regard to the current event are on his lips.
His audience within the framework of “Novorossia Today” project comprises about one and a half million of Americans, and Zak is free to tell them what is really going on in Donbass, to describe what he has seen with his own eyes. His blogs are the present-day version of word of mouth, and they are quite popular. Back in New York he used to take part in anti-war rallies.
Zak Novak: “I promise to fight with the Right Sector! I promise to fly in there and find them all, one by one!”
And now he is fulfilling his promise. In his 50 something he left America and arrived in Donbass via Russia.
Zak says that the most precious thing in his US passport is Russian visa. Besides, the document is wrapped in a cover with Novorossiya insignia. This ambiguous combination reflects the nature of Zlatko Novkovic – this is his real Serbian name.
This is how Serbian volunteers call him. Zak often visits Dejan Beric. He loves to watch his friend cleaning his rifle.
Ukrainian put a bounty on Deki’s head. He won 18 sniper duels. In the course of fights in the Donetsk airport he exterminated four Americans – “Black Water” mercenaries and two Polish snipers shooting at civilians. He downed two drones and burnt an APC. He was wounded thrice and has nine combat awards.
Dejan Beric, Serbian volunteer: “Information war is more important today than real battle. We fight against concrete people, and they are close, there’s no fraud here. And Ukrainian, European and American media lie too much. We have to deliver the truth to the world”.
When the need arises, Zlatko will also pick up arms, as he did in the beginning of 1990-s, when Americans and NATO bombed Belgrade. Although back then he was allowed to return to the USA, in order to fight with Bush policy, which he considered fascists, and now he cannot come back.
Zak Novak: “A year and a half ago Obama enacted a law, according to which all those, who act against the US interests in foreign territories, where conflicts occur, are criminals”.
Zak sees his future life in Novorossiya and, as he calls it, “Mother Russia”. The visa he is so proud of, has expired. He has no time to go and arrange for a new one – there’s too much work. We hope this won’t be a problem. If he is extradited to the USA, he will have to serve 25 years in jail.
