The district administrative court in Odessa, southern Ukraine, has turned down a motion of the city court, which demanded that activists of the Kulikovo Polje organization should be banned from holding an exhibition in memory of the House of Trade Unions tragedy that took place in Odessa in May 2014, the local publication Timer reported.
“An exhibition that will commemorate the May tragedy victims will take place at Independence Square as planned,” the report said.
At the same time, the court has banned all protests by Euromaidan activists who planned to disrupt the exhibition.
Radicals from the far-right Ukraine’s Right Sector movement, which is banned in Russia, and the so-called Maidan “self-defense forces” burnt a tent camp in Odessa where the city residents were collecting signatures in support of the referendum on Ukraine’s federalization and the granting of state status to the Russian language. The federalization supporters found shelter in the House of Trade Unions, which was later surrounded by the Right Sector militants who set the building on fire. As a result, 48 people burnt alive and over 200 were injured.
Neither deputies nor law enforcers who carried out the investigation have named the persons guilty of that crime.
