1st of July, 2015. Lugansk People’s Republic
Today, the head of the Lugansk People’s Republic Igor Plotnitsky stated that full responsibility for all sociopolitical affairs in the LPR jurisdiction will reside in the heads of administrations of cities and districts, who should not only be managers, but also political leaders.
“All local government heads are my political associates and allies, they’re all members of the public movement “Peace to Lugansk”, which imposes on them a special responsibility for the situation. Today, our Republic’s situation is extremely difficult, but authorities can take decisive and effective steps to ensure payment of pensions, social benefits, and wages of employees, and pay out everything budgeted for. We order regular payment of pensions, allowances, and salaries to state employees. Heads of administration should provide further action to ensure social dialogue and co-operation. Now, heads of local administrations act more like business executives and not political leaders. All leaders should be “hands-on” participants in all political processes; they should feel the mood and problems of the people. That’s their sacred duty. Make no mistake; I intend to be very firm about this,” – Plotnitsky said.
The public movement “Peace to Lugansk” is the largest movement in the LPR, founded before the elections of the LPR People’s Council, which took place on 2 November 2014. In the election, it received strong support from voters, taking first place in the number of votes – 69.42 percent of the total votes.
On 21 February 2015, the first all-Republic Congress of the public movement took place, during which Igor Plotnitsky won re-election as Chairman. Deputy Chairman of the Movement is Gennadiy Tsypkalov, the Deputy Chairman for Work with the LPR People’s Council is Alexei Karyakin.
