Getting Ready For May Day Holidays, Subbotnik Neighbourhood Cleanup Begins, 124,000 Volunteer Residents Of Lugansk Republic Take Part !

Getting ready for our wonderful May Day Holidays As 124,000 LPR residents take part in Republic’s Subbotnik cleanup !

“Subbotniks are usually carried out in April in order to have clean streets, parks and squares to welcome May holidays.   Subbotnik for us is a good tradition and the opportunity to tidy up in the spring for comfortable living in a clean city,” Mir Luganschine Executive Committee acting head Nikolay Zaporozhtsev said.

Almost 124,000 LPR residents joined the national volunteer neighbourhood cleanup effort running under the slogan “Order in the Republic - Peace to Homes,” Mir Luganschine social movement press service reported.

“The participants in the Subbotnik action on initiative of LPR leader, Mir Luganschine chairman Igor Plotnitskiy numbered 123,700 people; of those 79,500 are Mir Luganschine members,” the press service said.

Plotnitskiy’s initiative was supported by residents of 14 LPR towns and districts.

“Subbotniks are usually carried out in April in order to have clean streets, parks and squares to welcome May holidays.   Subbotnik for us is a good tradition and the opportunity to tidy up in the spring for comfortable living in a clean city,” Mir Luganschine Executive Committee acting head Nikolay Zaporozhtsev said.

“Sunny weather brightens the mood; people have accomplished much today. Thanks to everybody, the Republic’s will be clean and flowering to welcome May holidays.

“ We’re happy to see our citizens’ initiative and enthusiasm. The number of participants in such actions increases every year. People understand that they are helping their towns,  that is why we have such a happy and enthusiastic response to the call to make our Republic cleaner,” he added.

“We joined Subbotnik today to clean up trash and autumn leaves and improve our towns ahead of the 72nd anniversary of the Great Victory,” said Lugansk-based Mir Luganschine member Valeriy.

Earlier, LPR head Igor Plotnitskiy tasked youth organisations leaders and Mir Luganschine activists with arranging a nationwide spring cleanup ahead of May holidays.

Mir Luganschine is the largest public movement in LPR numbering 87,700 members. It was established before the election to LPR People’s Council on 2 November 2014. Mir Luganschine candidates won 69.42 percent of votes finishing first in the election.
