At least 80 people have been killed and around 350 suffered wounds in a blast that hit the Afghan capital of Kabul on Wednesday, the TOLOnews TV channel reported citing a spokesman for the country’s Health Ministry.
According to the latest reports, a vehicle bomb struck a check point at the entrance to the diplomatic area at 8:30 local time (03:30 GMT).
Embassies of Germany, Japan, Iran and India are located close to the blast site. The blast broke windows and doors of the neighboring buildings, the embassies have also been damaged. According to the Pajhwok news agency, more than 50 cars have been either destroyed or damaged.
No extremist group active in the country has yet claimed the responsibility for the attack.
