The leader of the Ukrainian Young Communist League Mykhailo Kononovych called on Mayor of Kiev Vitaliy Klitschko to get enlisted into the army in a street conversation in view of dozens of witnesses.
Kononovych was returning from the ceremony of laying flowers to the Eternal Fire Memorial on February 23 together with his comrades. They stumbled upon the PR-action of the boxer Mayor near Metro station “Arsenalna”. Klitschko was promoting his struggle with illegal outlets.
Mykhailo Kononovych approached the Mayor with a question: “Sir, are you celebrating the 23rd of February as a former Soviet soldier?” Klitschko, got embarrassed, but recovered and retorted: “No, I celebrate this holiday on another date”. “Which date?” — asked the Communist, but Klitschko avoided the answer having changed the subject.
Kononovych asked his second question: “Why do you fight with people using such barbaric methods? Aren’t they freezing in the streets selling all kinds of stuff because of poverty?”, — Klitschko blurted that as the Mayor he is not responsible for the economic situation in the country.
Then Kononovych said: “I do not ask you this question as the Mayor of Kiev, but as the leader of the list of Petro Poroshenko’s Bloc, as it was you who had won the elections and it is you who bear all the responsibility for the entire Ukraine including its economic situation”.
Klitschko was at a loss and failed to answer.
In a moment his face lightened up and Klytschko asked Kononovych: “Are you a patriot? If you are, why aren’t you in the АТО?”.
“I am a patriot of my country, that is why I am not in the ATO; to be a patriot does not imply killing one’s fellow citizens”, — replied Kononovych.
“And I’ve got the counterquestion, are you a patriot? Why aren’t YOU in the АТО? Is your elected post of Mayor protecting you from enlistment? I am making a public announcement, sir Mayor, let us act this way: tomorrow we, Kononovych and Klitschko, meet at 9 AM in the enlistment office and leave for Mariupol to serve there. You have surely got a competent team of assistants as a Mayor, haven’t you? Perfect! They will rule Kiev for a couple of months in your absence, citizen and patriot Klitschko!”
The Mayor got out of depth, then he laughed and replied: “Putin is the one to be blamed for this, Putin and his arms. Generally it is all Russia’s fault…».
After that Klitschko asked another dumbfounded question: “If not for Russia, will there be war right now?”
Kononovych answered that there would be, and even if there was no war, it would have been invented by such people as the Mayor. It is notable that the audience following the discussion has loudly expressed accord with the Communist.
In his turn Kononovych asked: “Metro fee grew twice, is it also damned Putin’s fault? Do all the illegal stalls selling kebabs belong to Putin? Utility price will again grow more than three times because of Russia, won’t it, Mr. Mayor? I served ten years in the army and I confidently claim that the army was ruined by the people of your kind, Mr. Mayor, and not Russia or Putin! You and your authorities are the biggest evil in this country!”
Tomorrow Kononovych and the member of the Young Communist League of Kiev are going to come to the enlistment office to see patriot Klitschko off while he leaves for Mariupol.
