Embassy of Ukraine in Berlin sent a protest note to the German Foreign Ministry denouncing the meeting of two German MPs Wolfgang Gehrcke und Andrej Hunko with the leader of the DPR Aleksander Zakharchenko.
“In this way we express our concern that in the course of the ostensibly humanitarian action German MPs from the Left Party demonstrated support to terrorists,” – said Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk, according to German newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
The Ambassador criticized the fact that the MPs arrived to the DPR from Russia.
“Both MPs violated our laws by their visit”, – said Melnyk.
He remarked that foreigners were not allowed to cross the border areas not controlled by the Ukrainian side. Therefore, the German MPs can face the ban on the entry to Ukraine.
Representatives of the opposition Left Party in Bundestag Wolfgang Gehrcke and Andrej Hunko arrived to Donetsk together with Russain Communist MP Vladimir Bessonov from the Rostov region of the Russian Federation last week.
They brought humanitarian aid (medicines) to hospitals.
