-Ukraine’s Interior Ministry reported that a National Guard fighter died of a bullet wound to his heart on Monday amid clashes in central Kiev.
-The Right Sector, Ukraine’s ultranationalist radical organization, has called an urgent gathering for its supporters in downtown Kiev following Monday’s clashes between police and protesters against amendments to the Ukrainian Constitution. “The blood of patriots has been spilt near the Verkhovna Rada [parliament],” the Right Sector said on its Facebook page. “[President Petro] Poroshenko not only looks like [former president Viktor] Yanukovych but has also shown love for despotic methods against people,” the Right Sector said. Over 3,000 protesters against the Ukrainian Constitution amendments gathered at the Rada headquarters on Monday morning. According to Ukrainian 112 TV channel, some 100 policemen were injured in clashes with protesters. Ukrainian Interior Minister ARsen Avakov said some 30 protesters, including the one who threw a grenade at policemen, were detained.
-The authorities of the Ukrainian capital on their website have asked residents of Kiev and foreigners to refrain from visiting the center of the city in connection with the riots.
“The Pechersk district administration warns of the danger in the area near near Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada in connection with mass events held there. The riots were caused by the clashes between militants of the Right Sector extremist organization and a number of ultra-right organizations and law enforcers. Voting has held earlier on Monday in the Verkhovna Rada on the draft amendments to Ukraine’s Constitution. Drivers are asked to refrain from rides to the center of the city of Kiev, namely the following the streets: Grushevsky, Shelkovichnaya, Bankovaya, Institutskaya and the adjacent streets and sidestreets,” the report says.
About 100 people were wounded in the clashes and the grenade explosion outside the building of the Ukrainian parliament. More than 3,000 opponents of the constitutional amendments from various regions of the country picketed the parliament building earlier on Monday.
Following the incident, the Right Sector extremist group urged its supporters to gather in central Kiev. Radicals threaten to respond to the actions of the authorities. The activities of the Right Sector are banned in Russia.
-A journalist of the Finance French edition has been injured during the clashes outside the building of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, deputy head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction Alexey Goncharenko said on Monday.
“A French journalist working with the Finance edition has been injured in his head by a stone. Having rendered first aid to him, we handed him over to the ambulance. The 17th hospital in Kiev is overcrowded,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to the parliamentarian, “2 journalists were injured, one of them a French national.”

“The clashes are over. The police and the National Guard continue to provide maintenance of public order in the government quarter,” the statement said.
According to the Interior Ministry, information about the victims is ascertained, “at the moment there are reports of two media workers who were injured during the unrest.”
