LPR Head Igor Plotnitsky congratulates the new South Ossetia president Anatoliy Bibilov on his inauguration, with an 80 % turnout !
“Your victory is based on respect and confidence of the people. I am sure the development of our Republics relations will help us face challenges of the modern world,” Plotnitskiy said today in Tskhinval.
“We are going through a new stage of our relations, we are grabbing for opportunities and ways for investors. We have some ideas on cooperation in economics, in culture,” he said in an interview to Sputnik South Ossetia radio station.
South Ossetia held the presidential election on 9 April. The candidates were previous president Leonid Tibilov, parliament speaker Anatoliy Bibilov and KGB security service officer Alan Gagloyev.
The Republic opened 72 voting stations in its territory and five stations outside (at its embassies in Moscow and Sukhum, at the consulate in Vladikavkaz and in North Ossetia’s Prigorodniy district).
The turnout was more than 80 percent, the election was monitored by some 80 observers from the upper and lower houses of the Russian parliament, the Russian Central Election Commission, Abkhazia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Transniestria and the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Bibilov netted 54.8 percent of votes, followed by Tibilov with 33.7 percent and Gagloyev with 10.2 percent.
