The press-conference concerning questions of humanitarian catastrophe in Donbass was held in Moscow on 24th March.
The head of the Russian Red Cross Igor Leonidovich Trunov told on points the content of the last humanitarian convoy which was delivered to Donbass. ‘There were 16 trucks altogether, about 200 tons of humanitarian aid. There were provisions mainly, we went to the towns of Donbass earlier and asked local population what is the most urgent for them’, the head of the Russian Red Cross reported.
Trunov pointed out that the organization Red Cross set the task not just to deliver the load, but to monitor its use; it means that it does not be delivered to the markets. The local Red Cross arranged the distribution.
The head of the Moscow Red Cross added that the two trucks of the load were completed by the citizens of Moscow. ‘There were cloths, feed for animals, so-called mixture. Materials for electricity supply and water supply were also sent’, Trunov told this.
It was pointed out at the conference that medicines and provisions will be directed to the Donetsk and Lugansk Republics.
The representatives of the Red Cross pointed out also that there is necessity to provide literature and school books to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. However, there are shelling there and many educational institutions have to be closed often, teacher are trying to provide education in full measure.
According to the opinion of the head and other representatives of the Red Cross, people are very patriotic in Donbass, and, particularly, Donetsk is very clean, all the utility services work and everyone tries to make contribution and show that the city is blooming.
