Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Armenia’s capital Yerevan, which will host a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Friday. The agenda includes a wide range of issues ranging from counter-terrorism measures to the election of the organization’s new secretary general.
Taking part in the event will be the leaders of all CSTO member-countries, with the exception of Kazakhstan, which will be represented by Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev. Representatives of the partner organizations – the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) – have been invited to the session as well.
The Russian delegation led by Putin comprises Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, representatives of the presidential administration and other agencies.
From Yerevan Putin will travel to India’s Goa where the Russian leader will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 15-16 and where the summit of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) leaders will be held.
