Russia’s President Vladimir Putin once again claimed that “an armed coup against the legal government of Ukraine took place in Kiev in February of 2014″. He talked about it at the meeting with the heads of the global media at the economic forum in St Petersburg, EFE news agency writes.
“The events of February of 2014 in Kiev bore the character of а coup against the legal government, and when predominantly Russian-speaking inhabitants of Eastern Ukraine opposed the new administration, the officials in the capital responded by sending tanks”, – Putin said, calling such action inadmissible.
He called to the implementation of the Minsk Agreement and blamed Kiev in the attempt to strangle the economy of the Eastern areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions by way of refusal to pay retirement pensions and blocking of financial operations.
“The international community should apply pressure to the government of President Petro Poroshenko to urge it comply with its obligations in accordance with the Minsk Agreement”, – the Russian leader stressed, having once more rejected the accusations of Russian military presence in the East of Ukraine, made by Kiev and the West.
Be reminded that on June 16 Putin said that the DPR and LPR are ready to the dialogue in regard to the implementation of the Minsk Agreement.
