Ten lawmakers with Ukraine’s Radical Party, including its leader Oleg Lyashko, are struggling to get into the presidential administration building to demand President Pyotr Poroshenko stop “reprisals against opposition politicians.”
“Lawmaker from the presidential faction Oleg Barna broke a rib to Radical Party lawmaker Yuri Chizhmar. Now we are trying to get inside the presidential administration to meet with President [Pyotr] Poroshenko and urge him to stop attacks and reprisals against opposition lawmakers,” Lyashko wrote on his Facebook account.
The entryway to the administration building is blocked by security guards. Lyashko claims however that President Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov are inside.
Earlier, Radical Party lawmaker Andrei Lozovoi told UKrainiskaya Pravda news outlet that Barna ans Chizhmar had locked horns over the Radical Party’s position on constitutional changes.
On Tuesday, Lyashko said his his political force was quitting the ruling coalitions in the Verkhovna Rada due to disagreement over the president-proposed draft of the constitutional reform.
