In Kiev, riots breakout between police and supporters of blockade of trade with Donbass
Protesters in support of the trade blockade against DPR and LPR staged a brawl with the police in the city center, they tried to bring tents to the building of the presidential administration to set up a staging area.
The Ukrainian authorities previously criticized the actions of the organizers of the blockade, saying that coal supply from Donbass was legitimate, as all the local coal-mining enterprises registered on the territory controlled by Kiev and paying taxes to the state treasury of Ukraine. At the same time, the law enforcement agencies initiated criminal cases on the fact of the blockade. However, the authorities took no attempts to de-block the movement of trains.
Several dozen members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) moved along Institutskaya street toward Bankova street, where the presidential administration is situated, and carried disassembled tents with them. Hundreds of security officers wearing overalls and helmets, blocked their way, which ended up in a fight. The radicals used fire extinguisher at the police and threw petards. Among the demonstrators were the Verkhovnaya Rada MPs of the faction “Samopomosch” (Self-help), Semen Semenchenko and Sergey Sobolev.
The police set up a cordon in Institutskaya street and let nobody through it. Soldiers of the National Guard came to the aid of the police. Protesters stood in front of the security forces and insulted them. Most of the demonstrators wore camouflage uniforms, some of them concealed their faces with handkerchiefs. The protesters held flags of the OUN, as well as national flags. Some of the protesters had clubs and sticks. Periodically the nationalists shouted ‘Revolution, Revolution!’.
