A group of German lawyers brought up a complaint to the Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe against Chancellor Angela Merkel’s migration policy, writes Spiegel.
The lawyers are asking the court to declare unconstitutional the decision Merkel put forth on September 4th 2015, which approved open borders to refugees.
“The chancellor of Germany, within the framework of their political course, does not possess the right to exceed the limits of the law or exceed the powers granted to them by voters through Bundestag”, said Klemens Anvaljer, the author of the complaint, from Düsseldorf.
Violation of the law is indicative through Merkel’s prevention of the application of the Dublin Agreement’s norms, as well as German laws regarding providing shelter and the right to asylum, said Anvaljer.
According to him, Angela Merkel is a “recidivist”, as opening the borders was not her first act that was was contrary the laws of Germany and the European Union; Anvaljer believes that the dubious measures the Chancellor took to overcome the euro crisis, and the suspension of atomic energy use, fall within these string of decisions.
