Staromikhailovka is a small settlement in Maryinka district not far from the capital of the DPR, and electricity supply was cut off from it as long ago as in August of 2014. Then two high-voltage (35 KV) power lines, supplying Staromikhailovka, were damaged as a result of Ukrainian shelling. Due to the fact that intense hostilities were underway near the damaged part of the line, before conducting repair works the authorities had to carry out de-mining of the territory and extraction of remaining shells. Workers of the Ministry of Coal Mining and Power Industry of the DPR worked in close cooperation with representatives of the energy supplying companies and emergency workers almost in the front line. The Ukrainian side never adhered to the agreements on the provisions of the “green corridors” and temporary ceasefire for the period of repair works, even in the presence of the OSCE observers.
