The US and EU support of the state coup in Ukraine led to a split in the Ukrainian society, says the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation approved Thursday by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree. “The support on the part of the United States and the European Union of the anti-constitutional state coup in Ukraine has led to a deep split in the Ukrainian society and the emergence of an armed conflict,” says the document posted on the official website of legal information. The activity of foreign organizations and individuals aimed at inspiring “colored revolutions” is a key threat to Russia’s state security, the document reads. Among the key threats to the state and public security of the Russian Federation, says the document, is “activity of radical public associations and groups using nationalistic and religious-extremist ideology, foreign and international nongovernmental organizations, financial and economic structures, as well as individuals aimed at violating the unity and territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, destabilization of the domestic political and social situation, including inspiration of colored revolutions, destruction of the traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
