The amount of casualties between journalist around all over the world has been 66 people for 2014 and 119 were abducted. This information was presented in the report of human rights organization Reporters Without Borders which work with questions of rights of Mass Media workers all around the world. However, it was pointed out that Ukraine has appeared this year in the list of the most dangerous for representatives of press from different countries as a result of the conflict in Donbass.
In general, according to the dates of the organization, the amount of casualties among journalists decreased by 7% compared to 2013 year.
With that, resonance of their deaths was larger than last year. Reporters Without Borders point out that the evolution of the nature and forms of violence against journalists is being observed due to the results of this year. It includes thoroughly prepared threats and beheading used with very distinct goal’, it was said in the annual report of the organization.
‘There were cases when reports were killed with such barbarous propaganda sense which shocked the entire world’, it was remarked in the document. As for killing risk for the life of workers of Mass Media, the most dangerous country of the world remained Syria. 15 journalists were killed there. After it are Palestinian territories in the list, especially Sector Gaza (7), Eastern Ukraine (6), Irak and Livia (4).
Ukraine takes the first place in the list in regard to abduction, 33 cases. 29 journalists were abducted in Livia, 27 in Syria, 20 in Irak. Moreover, the organization pointed out that in exile occurred by two times more journalists than in 2013 year.
