Givi was a commander of the volunteer ‘Somali’ Battalion, and fought in defense of the Donbass since the beginning of the war. Like many men, he first fought to protect his native town of Ilovaysk, but as the war dragged on, he would fight in Donets, and Yasinovataya. Mikhail Tolstykh was killed in his own office on February 8, 2017.
