Leader of the Ukrainian public association Oplot, Yevgeny Zhilin, who was know to his tough criticism of the Euro-Maidan, was shot dead at a restraurant in Gorki-2 township near Moscow on Monday, a police source told TASS.
“The preliminary information we have suggests the man who was killed is Oleg Zhilin, the leader of the Ukrainian public association Oplot,” he said.
Zhilin was chairman of Oplot, a group based in Kharkov, and the CEO of Oplot corporation. He received acclaim in Ukraine at the end of 2013 and in the first months of 2014 as an opponent and critic of Euro-Maidan.
After the state coup of February 2014, he was forced to flee the country in the wake of threats with criminal prosecution.
