The Investigative Committee has completed a probe into criminal case of Russian citizen Alexander Razumov, a member of the Ukrainian Right Sector extremist group, who is accused of mercenary activities, the official spokesman said on Monday.
Vladimir Markin told TASS that Razumov had tried to recruit police officers to participate in the armed conflict in Ukraine’s south-east as part of this organization, which has been banned in Russia.
Razumov is also accused of having committed the following crimes: inciting hatred or enmity and violating human dignity, Markin said.
According to investigators, between March and May 2014, Razumov, who was impelled by Nazi ideas, came to Ukraine where he underwent a combat and ideological training as part of the extremist organization.
“After that, he returned to Russia to recruit persons to the mentioned extremist organization,” Markin said.
The suspect “had apparently overestimated his ability to convince and underestimated the moral qualities” of Russian police officers as he was naive when suggesting that they could agree to fight against the civilian population and moreover under the banner of the Right Sector, he said.
Russia’s investigators have gathered enough evidence and the criminal case with the confirmed conclusion to indict has been sent to court for trial on the merits, the spokesman said.
