A spokesperson for the ethnic Albanian DUI party in Macedonia (FYROM) says Zoran Zaev’s SDSM is ready to vote in favor of a genocide lawsuit against Serbia.
According to Bujar Osmani, the lawsuit would concern “genocide committed against Albanians between two wars.”
This is one of the points contained in the Tirana Platform of ethnic Albanian parties in Macedonia and one of the conditions for Albanians to support Zaev – to whom Macedonia’s president has refused to give a mandate to form a government – for prime minister.
Speaking for Macedonian media, Osmani said that an agreement on the issue of a genocide lawsuit has been reached with Zaev.
“We believe this is an important question that should be closed,” he said, and added that DUI leader Ali Ahmeti “found a grave in the yard of his house (in Tetovo)” which represents “merely the peak of the carnage” that happened to Albanians in “that” period.
Tanjug is reporting today that in October last year, Macedonian media said “a skeleton of an as yet unidentified person” had been found in the yard of Ahmeti’s house, and that it was “assumed that it the remains of people buried there in 1913.”
Musli Musliu, a coordinator of a team that investigated the grave, is cited as saying that “the bodies were first burned, and then dumped into a well that was later covered with soil.”
According to information published at the time, at least ten skeletons were found in Ahmeti’s yard, Tanjug said.
